Techgnosis Website

This project is about designing and coding a text-based website that brings to life a mundanely presented, yet conceptual reading. The idea is that we are designing for the future, a time in which users will require their attention to be split in order to stay entertained and focused on the content in front of them. My allocated reading is TechGnosis by Erik Davis and it discusses the parallels between technology, mysticism, the paranormal, religion and pop culture, alluding to the weirdness and strangeness in the world that can’t be explained with rational logic. I aim for my website to guide the user through feelings of calmness and paranoia almost as if they have found themselves in a state of spiritual hypnosis. Utilising spiritual readings and whispering voices in the audio, I hope to hint towards another presence within the page, alluding to the weirdness of artificial intelligence and our ability to converse with it.

I have relied upon typography to create structure and hierachy throughout my website, maintaining an editorial feel that creates an interesting balance with the brightness of the visuals. I intend for my glowy effects and background transitions to complement the website, drawing attention to different sections of text and keeping the user interested for the entire seven minutes.
